Moong Dal Khichdi | How to Make Khichdi

Homemade Moong Dal ki Khichdi is a very tasty healthy food. It is very easy to make with very less time. You can also serve it as a breakfast with curd or as it is. Here I give u a simple method to prepare this moong dal ki khichdi at home.

Using Microwave 

 Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup moong dal
  • 4 cup water
  • 1 tomato chopped

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 onion – chopped
  • peanuts 1 tbsp
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 2-3 cloves (laung)
  • 1″ cinnamon stick (dalchini)
  • 2 black cardmoms (elaichi)
  • bay leaves (tej patta)
  • a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper (kali mirch)

Method

  • To prepare this homemade moong dal ki khichdi, firstly wash moong dal and rice.
  • Now, soak them in 4 cup water for 30 minutes.
  • In a micro proof safe bowl add ghee and all other ingredients.
  • Microwave for 4 minutes.
  • Add tomato, rice, dal and water.
  • Microwave covered for 10 minutes. stir.
  • Microwave uncovered at 60% power (540w) for 8 minutes.
  • Allow to stand for 5 minutes.
  • Fluff with a fork.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with curd (dahi).

 2.   Using cooker

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup moong dal
  • 2 cup water
  • 1 tomato chopped

Other Ingredients

  • ghee 1 tbsp
  • 1 onion – chopped
  • 1 tbsp peanuts
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 2-3 cloves (laung)
  • 1″ cinnamon stick (dalchini)
  • 2 black cardmoms (elaichi)
  • 2 bay leaves (tej patta)
  • a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper (kali mirch)
  • 2 coriander leaves

Method

  • To prepare this homemade moong dal ki khichdi in a cooker, firstly wash rice and moong dal.
  • Now, take a cooker add oil and cumin seeds. Fry till the cumin seeds became light brown.
  • Now, add chopped onions, fried it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add all other ingredients. Cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Now, add tomato, rice, moong dal and water.
  • Pressure for 2 whistles.
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with curd (dahi).
