
Sweet & Sour Vegetables Recipe
Homemade Sweet & Sour Vegetables are very tasty spicy recipes. You can make it at home with very less time. It can be served with noodles, fried rice or plain rice. Here I give easy methods to make this recipe.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice or syrup
- 3-4 baby corns – cut into 2 lengthwise
- 4-5 medium florets broccoli / cauliflower
- 3-4 mushrooms – cut into 2 pieces
- 2 slice pineapple, fresh or tinned – cut into 1″ pieces
- 1 small capsicum – cut into 1/2″ pieces
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 cup water
- 1/2 tbsp red chilli paste
- 1 and 1/2 tbsp crushed garlic
- 2-3 spring onions white – cut into slices
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 1/4 cup tomato ketchup
- 1/4 tbsp ajinomoto
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp soya suace
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1 stock cube – crushed
- 4 tbsp cornflour mixed in 1/4 cup water
- coriander leaves
Method
- To prepare this homemade easy sweet & sour vegetables recipes, microwave covered 1 & 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup pineapple juice, baby corns, florets and mushrooms for 6 minutes.
- Now, add tomato ketchup, vinegar, ajinomoto, sugar, soya sauce, salt and stock-cubes.
- Add remaining vegetables – pineapple & capsicum to the above vegetables.
- Keep aside.
- Now, microwave 2 tbsp oil, onions, garlic, red chilli paste in a separate bowl for 3 minutes.
- Add the onions to the vegetables. Add the cornflour paste also.
- Microwave for 6 minutes stirring once in between.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot or with fried rice.
Another Method (Using Pan)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice or syrup

- 2 slice pineapple, fresh or tinned – cut into 1″ pieces
- 1 small capsicum – cut into 1/2″ pieces
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 cup water
- 1/2 tbsp red chilli paste
- 1 and 1/2 tbsp crushed garlic
- 2-3 onions – cut into slices
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 1/4 cup tomato ketchup
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp soya suace
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1 stock cube – crushed
- 4 tbsp cornflour mixed in 1/4 cup water
- coriander leaves
Method
- To prepare homemade easy sweet & sour vegetables using pan, firstly, heat 2 cup water with 1 tbsp salt when water heated add cauliflower/broccoli, capsicum and baby corn. When water start boiling switch off the flame and keep aside it for 5-10 minutes.
- After 5-10 minutes drain water and keep aside.
- Now, take a pan and heat the oil.
- Add crushed garlic in it.
- Stir fry it for 1 minutes.
- Add onions , red chilli paste and stir fry it for 2-3 minutes.
- Now, add mushrooms stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Add vegetables and pineapple stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Take a bowl, add tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar, soya sauce, salt and stock-cubes.
- Mix well.
- Add it into vegetables. Stirring continuously.
- Cook it for 2-3 minutes.
- Now, add cornflour paste. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish it with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with fried rice.
Tip
- You can also use 1/2 regular onions if spring onions are not available.
