Here I have shared to ways. Firstly, I have shared the steps to how to make bread for garlic bread at home. In a second way, I have shared a recipe with store brought Italian bread. If you want to make cheese garlic bread then homemade bread is ideal for it because you can stuff cheese according to your choice.

For Garlic Bread Dough

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 4 teaspoon dry yeast / any yeast (khameer)
  • 4 teaspoon sugar
  • Pinch of salt (namak)
  • 12 cloves garlic, finely chopped (lahasun)
  • 3 teaspoon oregano
  • 4 teaspoon unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 4 cup plain flour / maida / all purpose flour
  • 8 teaspoon oil

For Garlic Butter

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 12 cloves garlic, finely chopped (lahasun)
  • 8 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped (dhaniya)

Other Ingredients

  • 12 tbsp plain flour / maida / all purpose flour, to dust
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese or any cheese of choice
  • 8 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 4 teaspoon oregano
  • 4 teaspoon mixed herbs

How to make the garlic bread recipe

Garlic Dough Recipe

  • Take a large bowl, add warm milk (1 cup), sugar (4 tsp) and dry yeast (4 tsp). Mix well.
  • Rest it for 5-6 minutes (or till yeast activated). If the milk turns frothy means yeast activated.
  • Now, add pinch of salt, oregano and finely chopped garlic.
  • Add maida / all purpose flour and butter.
  • Now, start to knead the soft dough.
  • After knead the dough, coat the dough with oil. Cover and rest the dough for 2 hours. Place the dough in warm place.
  • After 2 hrs, the dough will doubled in size.

Garlic Bread Recipe

  • Firstly, punch the dough to remove excess air from the dough.
  • Dust a little flour or maida and place a dough over it. Knead a dough for a minute. Make a ball from the dough.
  • After that flatten the dough using hand.
  • Take a small bow, add butter, freshly chopped coriander leaves, and finely chopped garlic. Mix well.
  • Spread the prepared garlic butter generously over the dough.
  • Now, top with grated mozzarella cheese on half of the dough.
  • Also sprinkle some oregano and red chilli flakes over the mozzarella cheese.
  • Now, fold the dough and seal the edges of the dough.
  • Brush generous amount of prepared garlic butter mixture.
  • Sprinkle red chilli flakes and mixed herbs.
  • Make a mark on the bread without cutting it completely.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for 15 minutes.
  • Cut the cheese garlic bread into pieces.
  • Ready to serve.


  • You can use baking soda and baking powder instead of dry yeast.
  • Always add warm milk to yeast. Do not forget to add sugar to yeast because sugar start fermentation process.
  • Make sure rest the dough for 2 hours.
  • Always baked garlic bread in preheat oven.
  • You can add more Italian seasoning to make it more flavorful.
  • Always severed hot.

  • 1 loaf  Italian bread, cut into 1/2 inch slices
  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • 8 cloves garlic, finely chopped (lahasun)
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped (dhaniya)
  • 4 teaspoon oregano
  • 4 teaspoon mixed herbs
  • 3 tablespoons grated mozzarella cheese

Garlic Bread Recipe

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a small bowl, add softened butter, chopped garlic, mixed herbs, oregano, and coriander leaves. Mix well.
  • Now, place Italian bread on baking sheet. Spread butter mixture generously over the bread.
  • Bake the bread for 10 minutes (in preheated oven), until lightly toasted. 
  • Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese over bread. Bake again for until cheese melted (approx 5 minutes).
  • Transfer the garlic bread into serving plate.
  • Serve hot.
